Among the Churches

Current Notes

Elmira, N. Y. (First Church).—The congregation of First Church of Christ, Scientist, will erect a new church in the city at as early a date as possible. A definite vote has been taken to vacate the present building at 214 West Gray Street and build a church with larger seating capacity and more modern equipment. It is stated that plans for the new structure will be pushed forward rapidly.

Sunday Telegram

Owosso, Mich. (First Church).—Construction of a handsome new church edifice on the present site at Oliver and Water Streets has been decided upon by First Church of Christ, Scientist. Work will be started soon, according to present plans. The building will be fifty feet square and of gray brick with large pillars in front. It will be of Grecian architecture and, though plain, will be very attractive. The church will have a seating capacity of three hundred and fifty persons, while the Sunday school will have excellent accommodation in the basement. The site was purchased four years ago. The church has grown rapidly since then, making it imperative that larger quarters be obtained.—Owosso Argus-Press.
