Christian Science teaches that "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 468); that God is Mind, Spirit, Love, conscious only of absolute Truth and good, creating spiritual ideas, which, because they spring from Him, are like Him,—perfect and eternal. Hence creation, including man and the universe, is spiritual. If all is Mind and Mind's ideas, then it is obvious that the ideas of which God is conscious constitute creation. To think of perfect Mind forming an imperfect or evil concept is impossible. There appears to be, however, a seeming activity of evil; and this accounts for the mortal sense of matter and evil and their effects, described in the New Testament as the carnal or fleshly mind, which is also described as "enmity against God," and contrary to Spirit. Christian Science never denies that evil and suffering exist, in belief, in human experience, but it sets itself to accomplish their destruction. It denies the reality of evil, holding that all reality is in the realm of perfect divine Mind. Thus, when men are governed by Mind or Spirit, God, they can destroy evil beliefs of all sorts; that is, destroy them in their own consciousness and experience.
