It is with much joy and gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy...
It is with much joy and gratitude to God and to Mrs. Eddy that I write this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me. Before it came to me I had not known for years what it was to be free from pain for an instant. I had submitted to an operation, hoping for relief. How ever, the trouble seemed to grow worse; so I underwent another operation, which revealed the seeming cause to be a malformation. Two months later, as a last resort I underwent a third, only to be told that nothing more could be done. For the first time I became really discouraged; for up to this time I had believed that God was sending me this sickness for my good. Now the years stretched ahead holding nothing but suffering in them; and as I was young, I longed to enjoy life as other girls did. It seemed as though I should go insane if I could not find relief.
While in this condition I was told of Christian Science by a dear member of the family. It was indeed the truth which made me free; for I was convinced from the truths she told, that God did not make me sick, for He was a God of love; and if He did not make me sick and yet made all that was made, I must be well. The next morning I arose knowing I was well and would have strength for everything that it was right for me to do. That was three years ago. Since then I have realized fully that "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Some discords were slow to yield; but I never gave in to them, knowing them for what they were, totally wrong and founded on nothing but a lie. They never hindered me from doing what I knew to be right; and they have gradually disappeared into their native nothingness.
I am very grateful for Mrs. Eddy's works, which throw such an illuminating light on the Scriptures; for all the periodicals; for church membership; and also for class instruction. Most of all, I am glad to know God, who is infinite Love and goodness, and the only power.
