It is only three years since I became interested in Christian Science, yet I have already had many proofs of its blessings, physically and morally. Quite recently I had a beautiful demonstration, which I desire to relate. One evening I was busy reading an interesting book. My son, who had been invited out that evening, told me before leaving that he had opened the windows in the bedrooms to renew the air, and requested me to close them in half an hour.

Absorbed in my reading, I not only forgot to close the windows, but also forgot to attend to my stove. Suddenly I felt my feet cold and a general sense of discomfort. I looked at my watch; it was already half past eleven. It was a cold and damp evening, and as I entered my bedroom, where the window had been left open for two hours and a half, I noticed that the room was extremely cold. Having been chilled while reading, I was shivering. For a moment the thought came to me that I should be ill; but immediately I corrected this thought, remembering what our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 234), that we must "guard against false beliefs as watchfully as we bar our doors against the approach of thieves and murderers." Therefore, I declared the truth it once, denying evil, and declaring with conviction and full confidence in God the truth about God and man as His spiritual image and likeness. A short time afterwards I fell asleep. About three o'clock in the morning, I woke up. I was not yet warm, and my throat was sore; but faithful to my understanding, I obediently denied the error again, clinging steadfastly to the truth of being. I fell asleep again immediately. In the morning it seemed to me that Satan, evil, tried again to tell me that it existed: I felt great pain; but still faithful to my understanding, I declared the truth, denying yet again the existence of evil, knowing that God, good, Love, is the All-in-all. The pain left me at once, vanishing like a dream. I then got up, breakfasted with appetite, and felt quite well. Not the slightest indisposition was experienced as a result of that cold night, although, on all sides, there were people talking about the grippe and suffering from it.

My heart is full of gratitude to God; to Christ Jesus, who showed us the way; and also to our beloved revelator, Mrs. Eddy, for the great benefits of Christian Science, through which I have learned to know the divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love.
