I would like to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. For ten years before having my eyes opened to this beautiful truth, I was constantly under the care of physicians. During that time I had five operations for abdominal troubles; first, for abscessed appendix. This one proving unsuccessful, the others were mostly experimental; and I was left in a very bad physical condition.

A few years ago I had a sudden attack of peritonitis. My case was pronounced very critical, and my sister was telegraphed for. Her husband had recently been healed of paralysis through Christian Science treatment, after the physicians had pronounced his case incurable. Upon arriving at the hospital, she persuaded the doctors to allow her to take me to her home in New Orleans. This was opposed, as the doctors feared I could not stand the trip. I had to be taken on a stretcher, and from the hospital to the train in an ambulance. My physician requested that, if I improved, I should not even be allowed to be propped up with pillows for two weeks; and I was being fed artificially.

Upon my arrival at my sister's home a Christian Science practitioner was called in; and my healing was instantaneous. After the first treatment the excruciating pain that I had suffered was entirely gone. I got up after the second treatment; and on the third day took a street car and rode down town on a shopping expedition, without being fatigued in the least. I was also eating anything I desired, for the first time in years. The fourth day being Sunday, I went for the first time to the Christian Science church; and found it filled with happy and healthy-looking people.
