Since coming into Christian Science I have enjoyed...

Since coming into Christian Science I have enjoyed many blessings and healings. I will mention one that was to me most convincing. I was conducting a blacksmith business. In the shop there was a small water power plant which was not strong enough to run all of the machinery at once, so when it became necessary to use the band saw, which was quite a large one, an overhead belt had to be released. To do this one had to climb up over the forge. On the main shaft was a collar with a set screw which extended out some distance, the timber beneath it having been cut out to allow it to revolve. When I was climbing up to this shaft my foot slipped, and I threw my hand forward to prevent my falling. The hand was caught and dragged between the set screw and timber, and as the space between was small the hand was badly jammed and very severely torn. I left the shop and went to the house and had my wife wrap the hand in a clean cloth.

As soon as the accident occurred I began to declare the truth. At first the blood ran in streams, but it very soon stopped. This was on a Friday afternoon and the next day, Saturday, I went to the shop and filed axes all day. On Monday morning I took my place at the anvil as journeyman and used the hammer and tools all day. My hand was somewhat stiff but it did not pain me, although it was my right hand and naturally got all the jars from the hammer.

The hand was not at all inflamed but always presented a healthy appearance. No stitches were taken and it healed up in a very short time. Not long afterward one wheel of a large wagon ran over one of my feet. For a few moments the pain was intense, but within ten minutes all sense of pain had vanished and the foot was not lame or discolored. As I enjoy the good things found in the periodicals my desire is to aid others.
