[Written for the Sentinel]

The Way, the Truth, the Life

When for love of God we yearn,
And naught but error can discern,
When in wandering doubt we stray,
We have His word: I am the way.

In the darkness of our night,
When we turn to God for light,
It is then that He reveals
Himself to us—the truth that heals.

Waiting, watching, Love abounds,
Listening for the voice that sounds
Far above earth's mortal strife:
I am thy All-in-all—thy Life.

So we to the Father come,
Praising Him with voice once dumb,
We, His children, softly sing:
'Neath the shadow of His wing.
