The Lectures

Lewistown, Mont. (First Church).—George Shaw Cook, lecturer; introduced by Burton R. Cole, who said in part:—

The word Science is defined as accumulated and accepted knowledge, formulated and systematized. It means the most accurate and complete knowledge available. In Christian Science, the word Christ is synonymous with Truth, the truth as to God's relationship to man and man's relationship to God. Thus Christian Science may be said to mean accumulated and accepted knowledge, the most accurate and complete knowledge available concerning truth, the truth as to man's relationship to God, and its converse.

Any knowledge, in order to be dependable and available, should be demonstrable. In fact, the only way we can really prove the accuracy of our knowledge is by demonstration. This is notably true in the so-called exact sciences, such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry. It is no less true of Christian Science, though it deals with the metaphysical.
