During the four years I have known of Christian Science I have had many proofs of its healing efficacy. In the autumn of 1918 I was healed of what is known as a blind boil. This had made its appearance on my leg just above the knee and for over a week had been causing me serious difficulty. Though I had applied the truth of Christian Science to the best of my ability the condition did not improve, and finally at the end of the week I asked for help. This was Sunday night. After one treatment I felt relief, much fear was destroyed, and I felt I could rest, knowing that Truth heals all our diseases. There was some relief the next day but I was still unable to stand, and the root of the trouble did not seem to have been reached. However, treatment was continued and on Wednesday morning the whole thing was destroyed.

I cannot adequately express my gratitude for this healing, which showed so clearly that "Truth should, and does, drive error out of all selfhood" (Science and Health, p. 538). I am also grateful for the overcoming of chronic headaches, for the instantaneous healing of an internal trouble soon after becoming interested in Christian Science, and for numerous other physical benefits; but words cannot express my gratitude for the absoulte transformation of my daily life through the study and application of this new-old truth, which was restored to us through the purity and devotion of one woman, Mrs. Eddy.
