A few years ago when first I heard of Christian Science,...

A few years ago when first I heard of Christian Science, I had occasion to go to a surgeon regarding my foot, a portion of which had been amputated because of an accident some years previous. The old wound used to break out at times, giving pain and considerable discomfort. On the occasion to which I refer, the condition was rather worse than in other years, and the surgeon after trying every material remedy for over two months without success, told me he was afraid that he could do no more for me and advised me to have that part amputated. I left him with a feeling of extreme disappointment. I had only recently taken up Christian Science and did not then realize what wonderful results could be attained through its study. As material remedies had failed, however, I decided to turn entirely from them and depend solely on Christian Science for my healing. This I did, and the week following my visit to the surgeon I went to see a practitioner and asked for treatment. After visiting him on two consecutive days I felt completely uplifted, my outlook with regard to my foot immediately changed, and on the third day the wound was entirely healed.

This I call my greatest healing, as it was my turning point from the material to the spiritual. Since then I have studied and understood, and now know that nothing is impossible in Christian Science; for as we study and know, so we are able to demonstrate. After five years of this study I can prove that divine Love does meet every human need; and as we understand more about God we also understand what Jesus meant when he said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."
