The following was the verdict delivered to my wife when seeking information as to the results of my affliction over four years ago, and was given by one of the foremost surgeons in our city: "Within three years all such sufferers become fully paralyzed if they live even that long." About a year and a half before, when in a hospital, I was told that I never again would have the use of my legs or of my hand; that I would remain a helpless cripple. I was, however, persuaded to try Christian Science and am now in perfect health, stronger and more vigorous than for many years; in fact, better than ever before in my life.

When a friend first spoke to me of Christian Science I scoffed and ridiculed much; indeed, not until the time arrived when for twelve nights my suffering was indescribable and I had anywhere from six to twelve spasms each night, leaving me in a very weak condition, and I saw that medicine was not giving me the slightest relief, did I accept his kind invitation to attend the Christian Science services. I went the following Sunday, and to say I was astonished at finding myself able to rise at the close without leaning upon the back of the pew in front of me, is to express my feeling very mildly. During this hour I suffered no pain, but became calm and peaceful and enjoyed the service much, even though it was quite different from that to which I had been accustomed for many years. That evening I received my first treatment, and to my great surprise slept through the entire night without a twitch of any sort although I had been having those spasms regularly every night for many months. I awoke feeling perfectly rested and quite ready to eat, which was also something unusual. That morning I walked two miles to business, where my friend greeted me and rejoiced over my healing, which was now well under way. My feet remained somewhat numb for a short period, but that condition too was entirely overcome, and I became normal in every respect.

I have also been healed of the liquor habit, with which I was bound for many years until I became almost a derelict. This healing was brought about through the reading of "Miscellaneous Writings" by Mrs. Eddy, although I was in a state of tremens at the time. Everything which was considered safe had been tried, including treatment at numerous sanatoriums and many private cures, but not until I came in touch with the healing power of Truth could I see deliverance from this curse. I have had many trials such as led me formerly to forget my troubles, at least temporarily, by taking to the bottle, but God has always helped me when temptation came close. I would just apply the truth as it had been taught me.
