I wish to express my deep gratitude for many blessings...

I wish to express my deep gratitude for many blessings received through Christian Science. From the time I was old enough to think for myself, I never believed in the existence of a Supreme Being, for I could not believe that a good God would create such a world as this; but, seeing that the results of religion were good, I attended an orthodox church for about twenty-three years, and read the Bible all through in the hope that some day the mystery of life and the hereafter would be revealed to me. I could not, however, grasp the spiritual meaning of the Bible, and so got no nearer to the truth. As time passed I found no real satisfaction in life, and questioned the use of living and striving to make the world better for a future generation who like us would end in dust.

A friend remarked to me one day that Christian Scientists not merely believe their religion to be true but know it to be so. I had been ignorantly prejudiced against Christian Science and its Founder, but now, despairing of learning the truth in any other way, I borrowed a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and studied it carefully. Before I had read half through the book, the true concept of God was revealed to me; I was absolutely assured that a God who is Love does exist, that man is His spiritual child, and that life is everlasting. Many statements in the textbook seemed hard to understand, but gradually with continued study the light became clearer, and I now have the blessed assurance that "there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed."

I am very grateful for the Christian Science lectures and literature, which are wonderfully helpful, also for the loving help and encouragement given me by older students of Christian Science. Many selfish habits have been overcome. I used to worry a great deal about the health of the family, and much good has resulted since my fear of sickness was removed. A sense of financial lack was beautifully overcome through the understanding that in God's perfect creation there is no lack. When I ceased to plan and applied the truth, the need was quickly supplied.
