The Lectures

A lecture on Christian Science was delivered at Fulham Town Hall by John Sidney Braithwaite. He was introduced by F. Lovell Lee, who said in part:—

It would seem on the face of things that there must be something in Christianity of which the peoples generally have not known how to avail themselves, or such conditions as those now prevailing could not have arisen. Christian Scientists believe that the wider and deeper understanding of Jesus' teachings which was revealed to their Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and given by her to the world in its hour of need, is now a demonstrable Science, and is truly Christian. In its application to the healing of sin and disease it has been most gratefully received, and carefully tested and proved.

In the eighth chapter of St. John's gospel it is recorded that Jesus in addressing his followers said: "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." It is the truth as understood and demonstrated in Christian Science that enables mankind to obtain freedom from disease and sin. Christian Science is daily giving to its students a broader, better, and more spiritual outlook on life and its activities and a greater love for their fellow man, and the consciousness of these improved conditions fills us with gratitude and a great desire that others may obtain the same benefits.
