We do not believe any really intelligent and well-informed...

The Courier of Jacksonville, Ill., commenting upon a statement made to the effect that "Christian Science is a bogus healing system, a sham religion, and purely a money-making scheme," says:—

We do not believe any really intelligent and well-informed person takes stock in the three charges made. There may be those who possibly entertain belief in the truth of one or more of them. Many persons have no faith in the beliefs of the Scientists respecting the healing of disease. Informed people know that the religion of the Scientist is a beautiful one, that it deeply impresses those who believe in it, and that the professions of the rank and file of the membership of the church are to them as reasonable and as sacred as are those of the believers in any other religion.

But the real beauty of the Christian Science religion is the soul peace that it brings to the earnest believer. It would be difficult to find a member of any "regular" church so deeply impressed and so vastly moved by its teachings as are many members of the Christian Science organization. Without pretending to know its teachings or to have knowledge of the beliefs accepted by the members of the church, it is an easy matter in one's own community to mention many persons whose lives have been revolutionized because of their belief in the Science teachings respecting the beauties of life and the duties one owes to his God and his fellow creatures.
