In so far as I have endeavored to make practical application...

In so far as I have endeavored to make practical application of the teachings of Christian Science I have had beautiful experiences, and I would not let the opportunity of acknowledging them publicly go by.

A short time ago, during a heavy thunderstorm, I realized that I was completely free from the effects of a fright caused in childhood by a severe electric storm. In my childhood days these effects were manifested (only during a thunderstorm) as fear, and later on in that I could tell exactly when a storm was approaching and whether it would be a heavy or a light one; besides, I could not bear to see the lightning, and my whole body felt electrified. In short, all manner of unpleasant physical symptoms showed the extent to which I was under a false belief of power and therefore how it affected me.

Although I had been acquainted with the teachings of Christian Science for several years, I made no special effort to overcome these conditions; but my duties compelled me to rise above sense-testimony whenever occasion demanded. Through the gradual understanding of God and of man's relation to Him as taught in our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, all these peculiar symptoms ceased to manifest themselves, and a storm does not now affect me in the least.
