It is nearly ten years since my first healing in Christian Science

It is nearly ten years since my first healing in Christian Science. I was living in morbid fear of a disease which had held me for four years, attacking me intermittently. The last attack persisted for nine months. The physicians gave the ailment no name, as it came under no particular classification, but seemed to partake of the nature of both eczema and erysipelas. They were finally agreed that there was no permanent healing for me. Then I had about six weeks' treatment in Christian Science, and in all these years have had no return of the disease. What is becoming clearer to me is the fact that the healing came through no understanding of mine, but entirely through the thought of the faithful practitioner, who was herself healed of a malignant growth many years ago. The sweet sense of security that this healing brought, carried me through many years without any serious work on my part. During this period many discordant conditions, among them a sense of bereavement, were overcome by treatment from some one else.

A few years ago I suffered from a throat affection for several days, and although a practitioner was visiting me, I seemed to grasp the fact that at some time I had to grapple with material sense myself, so I went to work to realize the truth expressed I the "scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468). In less than five minutes I received a flood of light and was able to declare myself healed. Later a severe burn was healed without blistering, and in a very short time.

In the spring of 1913, a little daughter came to us, and many discordant conditions which assert themselves at such a time were proved nonentities, the child being born harmoniously and quickly. Many minor ailments have been overcome for the little one, such as the widespread belief of colic, colds, and inaction of the bowels.
