Some years ago I suffered from a severe throat affection and coughs. A doctor who was considered an authority on chest troubles, told my people that he always feared I would develop tuberculosis. Several years later I was in South Africa. I was not then really a Christian Scientist, but was much interested in this teaching. I had a bad cough with a high temperature, and I felt so ill that I thought, as I was staying alone in a hotel, I ought perhaps to write down the name of my lawyer in England, for I was afraid of becoming unconscious, and perhaps dying. I asked some one to telephone to a Christian Science friend, and say that I felt too ill to go to see her the next morning. The following day the friend came to see me, and told me that she had treated me. That was on a Wednesday. By Friday I attended a social function, and as the weather was very hot, I went out several times into the open air, sat down, and walked about. I did not even trouble to put a scarf or any wrap over my evening dress, for the healing was complete. I am now in excellent health, whereas years ago I was considered very delicate, and was nearly always in a doctor's hands.

My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science is far deeper than when I was first healed. I have had some ailments present themselves since, but they have all been overcome in Christian Science. Truth is more to me now than it was then, and I am building on the rock, Christ.
