[Written for the Sentinel]

Kindness

Kindness , a breath of blissful peace,
From heart to heart sped on its way,
Bringeth the joy of heaven today,
And maketh the din of earth to cease.

Of wondrous fragrance, like the breeze
That gently blows o'er flowered fields,
A perfume not of earth it yields,
Borrowed from Spirit's blooming leas.

Oh, blest art thou whose heart doth know
The touch of kindness stirring e'er:
'Tis Love that worketh sweetly there,
And in thy life Love's peace doth glow!
