[Written for the Sentinel.]

FATHER, I THANK THEE!

Each day of every year my joyous heart
Keeps holy day; nor can I set apart
A single morn sufficient to express
My thankfulness.

For morning, noon, and night Thy blessings flow
Unceasingly; and everywhere I go
New joys await, to speak the constant care
Thy children share.

With open hands I stand before Thy throne:
That Thou hast given me is all Thine own,—
I thank Thee for my growing power to use
As Thou dost choose.
