I cannot fully express my gratitude for the blessings...

I cannot fully express my gratitude for the blessings which Christian Science has brought to me. For many years I was an invalid, and for fourteen months previous to my introduction to Christian Science I was a very great sufferer from chronic bowel trouble, with complications of heart, kidney, and bladder affections, also sleeplessness and great weakness. I had spent six months under the care of a specialist in one of our large cities, at the end of which he informed me that I could not recover. I then returned to my sister's home in this city, and two of the most prominent physicians here also informed my relatives that I had only a short time to live. In all these long months I was not permitted to eat anything but a little light food, and when my sister called a Christian Science practitioner, at my request, now two years ago, I could not sit up an hour at a time.

The practitioner came on a Sunday night, and asked me if I would give up material means, and look wholly to God for help. I answered that I would, for they had done me no good. I had my first treatment that night. My sister was very fearful of the results, although she did not voice her fear; but I made rapid improvement. I awoke Wednesday morning hungry, arose, and took a hearty breakfast with the family. Before the day was over I ate peaches, which I gathered from the tree myself; in fact, I ate anything I desired. My sister said that she actually trembled when she saw me so reckless as to my diet. My improvement was so rapid that very soon I was able to walk to the residence of the Christian Science practitioner and back home, a distance of twelve blocks.

My daily study of Science and Health with the Bible, began with the treatments, and I received a spiritual understanding of the Scriptures never before enjoyed, and experienced a pleasure in the study of the Bible which heretofore had been unknown. I became a totally different woman, so friends said, and no one could know this so well as myself. It is my desire to be counted worthy to help others as I have been helped. I had about six weeks' treatment, although I was healed in less than two weeks, but I felt that I needed the instruction and help, in order to be better able to help myself. During the past year I have not had to call for assistance, being fully able to overcome all difficulties which presented themselves. For all of these blessings I am very thankful to God, and also to Mrs. Eddy.
