THE LECTURES

An audience that filled Carnegie Hall, Allegheny, last Thursday evening [Sept. 15], listened attentively to a lecture entitled "Christian Science: The Gospel of Salvation," by Willis F. Gross of Boston, given under the auspices of Second Church of Christ, Scientist. Congressman-elect Stephen G. Porter, in introducing the lecturer, said in part,—

Christian Science is more than a theory at the present time; the fact is brought home to many people that throughout the entire United States, and in fact throughout the entire civilized world, it numbers thousands upon thousands. This alone is enough to convince the most skeptical that there is more substance than mere theory in Science.
