The foundation of Christian Science is the scientific...

Buffalo (N. Y.) Enquirer

The foundation of Christian Science is the scientific demonstration of the omnipotence of God and the proof of His ever-present availability in all times of trouble. The reason for the clergyman's criticism seems to be that he wants Christian Scientists to depend on physicians instead of placing their reliance unreservedly in God. It should be understood that Christian Scientists have the greatest respect for all honest medical practitioners, but they should not be subject to criticism for applying practically in everyday experience the Scriptural teachings of reliance on God, which our critic seems to think is but a theory to be preached and not practised. Christian Scientists are proving that "with God all things are possible," and that as the realization of divine sonship is reached man's rightful inheritance of dominion over all that is discordant and imperfect will be made manifest. Just as the multitudes followed Jesus because of his wonderful works, his proof of the power of God, so today do the multitudes turn to Christian Science, ofttimes after all other means have failed, and there find that God's "hand is not shortened, that it cannot save," but that the works of the Master are again being accomplished, in fulfilment of his promises to "them that believe."
