I am glad to add my testimony to those of the many who have been healed and blessed by Christian Science. I had suffered for a number of years from a severe stomach trouble, which caused days of intense distress, and though I had many physicians of noted skill, none seemed able to cure me. My husband was a druggist, and every new remedy known to materia medica was tried; but all in vain, except for temporary relief. I became emaciated and sallow and literally lived on bread and water. My last doctor hinted at an operation, but as I would not listen to that, he commenced giving me hypodermics, as the pain seemed unbearable, and I very soon thought I could not live without this drug. We came South, hoping a change might benefit me, but I seemed to grow worse steadily. A lady who saw me at this time said, "Why not try Christian Science? Many here have been cured; and it surely will not hurt you, even if it does not help." I had heard very little of Christian Science, and hadno faith in it, but I followed the advice and called on a practitioner. After talking with her, I decided to take treatment. She told me to eat what I pleased, without fear, and very wisely refrained from making any stringent rules for me, as my belief in the need for the morphine was so strong; but after awhile I found my desire for the drug was gone, and to the surprise of my friends I was soon a picture of health and strength.

Since that time, although we have had sickness and sorrow to meet, not one of my family has had medical treatment, but every case has been met by the understanding of Truth. I can hardly express how much I owe to the patience and kindness shown me. I thank God for His goodness, and that He has given us a Leader who by her life and writings has shown us the way out of bondage into the glorious liberty of His children. I write this with the hope that some suffering one may be benefited by my experience, and investigate this divine healing as revealed to us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy.—Mrs. F.
