It is with a deep sense of gratitude, and to give credit and honor where it is due, that I wish to accord some slight recognition for the benefits received through Christian Science. The awakening brought about by the wonderful work of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in giving to a benighted world this great revelation of Truth, cannot reach too many. From childhood the narrowness of the views held in the church which I attended oppressed me, and as I grew older caused me to peep into others, only to find there the same conditions. At last this line, "The night is dark, and I am far from home," from the well-known hymn, "Lead, kindly light," was the only thought that appealed to me. These words so aptly expressed my mental state, and my desire for the light was so great, that I clung more and more to the hymn. The prayer for light was indeed answered when a lady came into our midst who brought with her a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and although she had been studying this book for only a couple of months she began the work in this field.

After hearing a little about this glorious truth, I found there was only one copy of Science and Health to be had here. I bought it without delay, and immediately started to read it. I had been reading only one day when I had a great proof that divine Love does meet every human need, as Science and Health explains. Neuralgic trouble, from which I had suffered for many years, presented itself under weather conditions which usually aggravated it, but by faithfully striving to put into demonstration the little gleam of truth I had gained in the previous day's study, the trouble was destroyed; and although years have since passed, there never has been the slightest return of it. When the pain was great there came the temptation to try a drug, but it was immediately routed by the desire honestly to prove Christian Science. Encouraged by this proof, within the same week I was again willing to prove Truth's power, this time over ingrowing nails, which for several years had been a source of constant worry and pain, with the result that they have never again troubled me. Other troubles have come along since, and I have always found that whenever the truth has been faithfully held to, the discordant conditions were soon removed.

To be freed from physical suffering is no little thing, but when compared with the light that comes through the knowledge that God is to be known here and now, and that good is being demonstrated at the present time, it sinks into insignificance, for all that I have ever truly known of God has come through Mrs. Eddy. I recognize that is being students of Science and Health we are students of good only, for it teaches only good; and as we refuse to become students of error or evil we begin to appreciate the work done by our Leader,— to love her for it, and for her selfless, God-directed life. We also learn to love and be grateful to all who in ways small or great are helping to spread this life-giving truth.
