CHRISTIAN SCIENTISTS AND JURY DUTY

We copy the following from an editorial in the Butte, Mont., Miner, and as similar editorial comment has been passed by other newspapers throughout the country, it is fitting that the matter should receive some attention in the Sentinel. The Miner says:—

Owing to the fact that the Christian Science sect has had a very rapid growth in late years, and that adherents to that faith are found in nearly all communities in the United States, it is interesting to note that in Chicago this week a member of this church was excused from jury duty because he said, "The religion I follow forbids me to judge others."

This man desired to read to the court a verse from the second chapter of Romans, which holds that it is inexcusable for one man to judge another.
