A Grateful Tribute

When there came through the Sentinel the first appeal for additional funds for the building of The Mother Church, it was difficult for me to know my duty. The problem was one which Principle alone could solve, as it seemed impossible for me to do more without borrowing. As I was striving to overcome doubts, fears, and seeming obstacles, and to know that Spirit is substance; divine Love the source of supply and that supply inexhaustible; I opened the Bible at the book of Haggai, with which I was not then familiar. I was greatly impressed with the second chapter, especially the seventh and eighth verses, which read: "The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts." After reading these words there was no longer a doubt that the way would be made clear to me, and it was. The supply came from a distance, from a source which for years had been a care and expense, and it was with a grateful heart that the sum required was given for the Cause of Truth. When the last request came the supply had not ceased, showing that divine Love ever meets our need, and sometimes in most unexpected ways.

I desire to express my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the great good which has come to humanity, and the manifold blessings which have come to myself through the spiritual understanding gained from her book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
