It is with a heart full of gratitude and love to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I add my testimony to the healing and redeeming power of Christian Science. I became a member of an orthodox church when only eight years of age, and I tried very earnestly to live a Christian life, but I was filled with doubt, anxiety, and fear; there was an aching void that could not be filled, a longing that could not be satisfied. I prayed earnestly that God would show me some sign that I was a Christian, but it seemed as if all was darkness. I was considered a very delicate child, and as I grew older I hardly knew what it was to have a day free from pain. Indigestion grew to be a chronic disease, and I was seldom free from headache, and I thought I could not live without material remedies. Shortly after my marriage I had an opportunity to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I thought it was very beautiful, but there were some things I could not understand. The one who had the book went away and I thought very little more about it. Finally my husband came across an old Christian Science Journal, and he read an article in it which led us to study the Bible. What little I had read in Science and Health gave me such a new light on the Bible, that I said, "If the Bible is true, Science and Health must also be true." We at once ordered a copy of Science and Health, and it is needless to say that our novels were forgotten.

The first week after we received the book, I was healed of a trouble to which I had been in bondage from infancy. My husband was instantly healed of the tobacco habit, and never since has had the least desire for it. Since then we have been through deep waters, but Christian Science has been our only help. My husband was healed of typhoid fever in two weeks. The third day after we wrote the practitioner for treatment, all the fever left him. He was up next day, and from that time on went to his work as usual. I have been brought back from the very brink of the grave by this beautiful truth. We have proved that "with God all things are possible." Our little girl is nine years of age and Christian Science has been her only help since she was one year old. The diseases that children are supposed to have were met for her immediately. She has never known what it is to be in bed a day.

In Christian Science I have found that which was lacking, and it has dispelled the darkness with light; has displaced doubt, anxiety, and fear with the understanding of omnipotent good, enabling me each day to prove that man is God's own child and that I am a Christian in the degree that I bring out the Christ-thought in my life. Words cannot express my gratitude to God for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Some time ago, when opposition to the truth seemed almost too much for me to meet. I was awakened in the night with a great sense of discouragement. I thought of Mrs. Eddy and her glorious work,—how nobly and bravely she had stood alone with God, against the whole world, as it were, and of how she had conquered. Then the knowledge that her God was my God, and that she had given us, in Science and Health, the key through which we could unlock the door of understanding, that solves all the seeming mysteries of mortal mind, brought with it a deep sense of peace and rest. I am especially grateful to her for her article on "Prevention and Cure for Divorce." When applied to church work, the benefit I received from its perusal enabled me to stand firm to Principle as never before. I am also very grateful for our periodicals, and my earnest desire is to let my daily life show forth my gratitude.—Nora Yoder, Ballard, Wash.
