The Thanksgiving Service

WE are confident that all Christian Scientists will rejoice in the inauguration of a uniform Thanksgiving Day service which has been prepared at the request of our Leader.

While not forgetful of the specific and peculiar occasions for rejoicing which pertain to individual experience, the true spirit of gratitude will seek to emphasize, in public service, those larger considerations for thanksgiving which pertain to the nation, to all Christian people, and especially to all Christian Scientists.

How insignificant indeed seem the things we have thought of as material blessings, and to the possession of which we have largely looked for pleasure and satisfaction, when compared with the unmeasured gain which has come to us in a demonstrable knowledge of the healing Truth. Surely an ungrateful and unrejoicing beneficiary of Love's bestowals in Christian Science, would be a paradox of incongruity, and our glad participation in the service will give fitting expression to that deep and abiding sense of indebtedness and gratitude which fills the heart of every true Scientist.
