God is Love

Every Christian and believer in the Bible will admit the statement that God is Love, and yet how many pureminded Christian men and women deny in their extremity the very statement they know to be true. When sorrow and trouble seem to fall heavily upon them they meekly submit and say "Thy will be done." Is it God's will that children should be torn from loving parents; that thousands should be slain in war, drowned at sea, tortured by plagues and tyrants? Would He be a God of love if He were the author of such things? No, it is God's will that His children should live in peace, love, and harmony, for God is Love. If we only believed, trustfully knew, that God is Love, and relied upon His protection, we would ward off all sin and sorrow. Whoever does a kind, loving deed, even though he be full of wickedness, will feel the glow of peace and happiness come over him which always goes with a good deed. Why? Because it is the Good, God, that prompts the action. No one ever failed to receive this silent but bountiful reward for a noble deed done.

Often we hear people say, "I wish I were rich and I would give this and do that," etc. We do not need money to do God's work or to receive God's reward. A kind thought, a loving word, or a thoughtful act is worth more than money to the sorrowing heart, and a thought of Love, if understandingly given, will open the way to feed the hungry, heal the sick. To see, to know, and to feel that God is Love, this is to live and to be filled with joy and peace.
