How I Came into Christian Science and what it has Done for Me

Some ten years ago, I met a lady who came to visit at the home where I was boarding during my stay in the city. She claimed to be a Christian Scientist, and seemed ever willing and ready to talk on the subject of Science. All the knowledge I had of it, was from hearsay, and that was very little indeed.

One evening when left alone by chance I said, "Mrs. E., now I want you to tell me something about Christian Science, and what it is based upon." She readily assented to my request, and talked to me for some time, while I was wrapped in the closest attention. When she got through, I seemed more mystified than ever, and asked with incredulity, "Do you mean to tell me that this table, these chairs, and other objects we look upon, have their existence in imagination merely, that they are not what they seem?"

She made reply, "Yes; that is just what I mean. We just imagine they have an existence and are here, but it is all a delusion of the senses."
