Share why you love God, especially with young people

It’s natural to want to share something you love—whether it’s a piece of music, a recipe, a favorite hike, or something fundamentally life changing such as your faith. Sunday School class is a natural place to do that. I have found one of the most meaningful ways to communicate to a class is by sharing how you are actively letting the Christ shape your life day in and day out. Explaining this is one of the most loving gifts they can be given.

When our hearts are filled with the love of God, it naturally spills over and is attractive.

Several years ago, while serving as Sunday School superintendent in a Christian Science Sunday School, I noticed something very interesting: two Sunday School teachers with two completely different styles of teaching. One tacked brightly colored summaries on the wall of her classroom. She brought in creative visual aids to illustrate key ideas. She’d often start the class by showing the kids a video on her laptop. This is how she taught ideas from the Bible Lesson contained in the Christian Science Quarterly. The other teacher taught strictly from the books—the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. His students looked up citations straight from the books, with no other teaching aids.
