GRATITUDE WITHOUT MEASURE

I'm grateful for many blessings that have come to me through the study of Christian Science.

When I was a teenager, I had frequent difficulty with constipation. It was never awfully serious, but a constant source of discomfort and annoyance. Then I enrolled in a college at which all the faculty and students were Christian Scientists. On the day I arrived, I walked around the campus with a couple of fellow students. I felt a tremendous intellectual and spiritual freedom in the mental atmosphere of that environment, and from that day many years ago, I've never had that trouble again. As Christian Science shows, the body is governed entirely by thought. I've always felt sure that the inspiration I gained dispelled the sense of physical discord, and restored health to my body.

I also used to have periodic headaches. At first I tried a couple of medicinal remedies, but they didn't help. Then I began to pray with the truths I was learning in Christian Science. First, I affirmed that God's likeness is not in a material body, but is a spiritual idea in the Mind that is God. I denied the belief that I could possibly experience pain of any kind, since a spiritual idea can never be material and subject to the limitations and sufferings of the flesh.
