What is a real church?

Does it have a white spire and bell tower? Or does it have flying buttresses, arches, and stained glass? Is it sedate or is it singing hallelujah? Could it be a tin-roofed shack or a storefront?

The fact is churches come in a lot of different shapes, sizes, and activities. Some support missionary outreach. Some maintain large medical establishments. Some are involved in politics, others in education.
