Today’s raindrops

Isn’t it funny how
today’s raindrops
pitter-pattering
against my window
wash away all remembrance
of yesterday’s
sunshine?

kind of like
how the
   certainty
      immensity
         omnipotence
of good
are so easily
forgotten
amidst the monsoon
of my latest woe

and yet just as the
   vitality
      brilliance
         supremacy
of the sun
always prevail over
even earth’s
darkest clouds

so, too, I know that a
   patient
      contrite
         obedient
heart basks forever
in the radiance
and eternality
of God’s love

restoring my soul
rekindling my devotion
plucking me from
my sodden gloom
into the eternal noonday
of divine being
