Fearless praise

Be not afraid. Have faith in God,
           the Master clearly said.
To be afraid renounces God.
           It’s faith in fear instead.

The Lord is substance, He is real.
           Fear is emptiness.
For fear is like a hollow asp,
           all threat but venomless.

To lean upon a fear mirage
           results in falling flat.
So lean on God, as Mary did,
           in her Magnificat.

For praise affirms our faith in God.
           It’s praying at its best.
It’s truly realizing just
           how fully we are blessed.
