I didn't give up
One day I was conversing with a friend about the issue of youth nowadays in Africa, who are faced with unemployment, purposelessness, poverty, corruption, etc. We found that it is so easy to be fatalistic in thinking and believing there is nothing that can be done in order to change things. Instead of making efforts to change the situation, we may find ourselves looking for a more favorable environment to succeed, and this is why we witness a rush of people to Western countries in search of opportunities to realize their dreams. But running away from an unfavorable environment may not solve someone’s problems definitively. I believe we will still be facing these issues in other forms until we overcome them.
The right apprehension of God and man reveals that we cannot be conquered by circumstances when we are always aware of the dominion that God gave us over all things (see Genesis 1:28). The Bible shows figures who courageously dealt with challenges of all sorts in order to realize their dreams—the long trip of the children of Israel through the wilderness to the Promised Land teaches us that qualities such as gratitude, courage, patience, perseverance, faith, and obedience, enable us to overcome any apparently insurmountable obstacle.
In 2007, I decided to take class instruction in Christian Science, for I knew that class would permit me to deepen my knowledge of Christian Science and to heal in a systematic way with more efficiency.
