Renewal—it's a promise for 2006

“Happy New Year!” It’s an invitation for all to rejoice in the anticipation of a new beginning. It’s a recognition that things can be made better in our lives and in the world.

An inspired commitment to have part in this renewal sings through the New Year’s greeting. And the special promise of 2006 is that there will be plenty of opportunities to build and rebuild.

Besides the ongoing efforts to rebuild after the tsunami in South Asia, there are also people working in the areas hit by hurricanes and earthquakes in 2005. These are some of the opportunities for renewal 2006, but they're not the only ones. War-torn countries, victims of genocide, disease-afflicted and famine-threatened peoples are crying out for relief.
