Your right to employment

Diane Dailey, C.S.B.

In this lively chat, Diane declares, “This is a New Year! It’s a good time to consider some new, fresh ways of thinking or bringing a spiritual perspective to the job market.” She addresses the anxiety that what we have now is going to be taken away, if we lose a job it will be replaced by something less useful or enjoyable, that competition can keep us from progress. She says, “Change can lead to a new chapter, to new opportunities that God will reveal to us. . . God sees us as always purposeful, lacking nothing.”

Questions from visitors cover fear that age can prevent someone from finding a job, or that those who have been employed for a long time will be unsuccessful. Diane offers thoughts to those who need to reenter the job market after raising a family, being underemployed or retired with limited income. Other questions are work-related: fellow workers who are unpleasant and feeling pressured over people’s expectations.
