Val Kilmer's Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy — a film in the making

Val Kilmer and Mike Davis

In this chat, actor/filmmaker Val Kilmer and historian Mike Davis talk about the relationship between Mark Twain and Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, and how these two great characters will be portrayed on film. Twain was very critical of Mrs. Eddy and yet felt a great fascination with her celebrity and with her writings. Although one of his daughters was healed through Christian Science treatment and wrote a book about it, Twain continued to be irascible in his attitude.

In addition to responding to questions about the film and Christian Science, Val also talks about the spiritual message of Christian Science and what it means to him. The chat also makes clear that the film is an independent production, not a publicity vehicle for the Church Mrs. Eddy founded or to proselytize. Tune in to hear Val read from the film script, presenting some of the scenes that depict these two great American icons.
