Hurricanes and how to pray about them

Hurricanes may seem very threatening, but Beverly says that each of us can gain peace by going higher to God's goodness and power. She makes the point that "there is nothing natural about natural disasters," and goes on to say, "It can seem like these storms are so mighty that they can conquer any other influence, but … there's a law, a force for good, which God is, and God does not share that force, that power, that authority with anyone."
Among the questions answered: Are hurricanes and other disasters "acts of God"? How does prayer affect the weather? Can we still storms as Jesus did on the Sea of Galilee? How can we pray more consistently about threatening weather, even when it isn't threatening us specifically? What about the "hurricanes" of economic chaos, personal job confusion, political struggles, and military conflict? What if prayer just seems like empty words because the situation seems so bad?
