Revelation 1:8

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Alpha and Omega indicate the entirety and universality of God’s government (see also v. 11; 21:6; 22:13). Here the Greek noun rendered ending (telos) signifies maturity or completion rather than termination or stoppage. It appears in Paul’s words about Christ Jesus as well: “Christ is the end [telos] of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth” (Romans 10:4).
