Able to pay for college

Our daughter had opted for a private liberal arts school many miles from home. Her mom and I had supported her through the selection process as she evaluated several options, including a school in our hometown, and I felt that her choice had been God-directed.

At one point, though, as we were driving her to college for the start of her freshman year, she asked if we could afford to send her to this school. I responded that the only thing she needed to do was to have a deeply rewarding college experience, and that her mom and I were knowing and affirming the spiritual fact that our Father-Mother God’s supply was there for all of His children, including her. Although at the time I did not know where the money would come from, I trusted that just as God, Love, had directed our daughter in her college choice, Love would provide complete provision for her attendance.

Her question, however, was appropriate. My current business, of which I was part owner, was declining. I had come to the conclusion that my future employment would be elsewhere, but because of my previous career path, my résumé didn’t appear to be very marketable. While this all seemed a challenging prospect, I had learned through my study and practice of Christian Science to trust God.
