Christian Science is here to stay
Truth stands forever, and in regard to the teaching of Life as Spirit gaining acceptance, success is inevitable.
I have been talking with a woman who has been watching a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, from a distance over many years. She sees declining attendance at church services, which to her signifies a worrying trend. She reasons that we live in a materially-minded age in which interest in what Christian Science teaches has withered away. “There is no future for Christian Science,” she declares without flinching.
Her comment surprises me because my outlook regarding the future of Christian Science is very bright. Christian Science has brought hundreds of healings my way over the decades and gives me so much happiness and health that I can’t imagine a better way to live. But her statement is made with such strong conviction that it forces me to reason through why Christian Science can and will endure over the long run.
It’s important to understand that Christian Science is neither a building nor a congregation, large or small, of mortals. It is the Science of immortal Truth, God. It explains that life is sustained by God, Spirit, not matter. It’s not a temporal human institution. It’s a revelation of spiritual reality.
