Quick recovery after car accident
I had just dropped my husband off at the bus stop and was driving home with our toddler when another car suddenly slammed into the front of my car on the passenger side. Our daughter was thrown through the windshield and landed on the hood of our car. (This happened more than fifty years ago, before childrens’ car seats were in common use.)
I was knocked unconscious, and our daughter and I were both taken by ambulance to the local hospital. When I woke up, I told the doctor I wanted to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. (Anyone who chooses to rely solely on God for healing can call on a Christian Science practitioner—someone who is devoted full-time to praying for others—for treatment, in any situation.) While I appreciated the kindness and efforts of the hospital staff, I had successfully relied on prayer for a lifetime and was confident that God was with us and meeting all our needs.
When I told the practitioner our circumstances, she immediately began praying for our daughter and me. She assured me that God was caring for us both and that she was seeing us as God, Spirit, constantly sees His creation, including each one of us: entirely spiritual and forever whole—unbroken. As the Bible says (see Genesis 1:26, 27), we are made in God’s image and likeness, which means that our substance as Spirit’s reflection is wholly spiritual, untouched by any supposed physical laws.
