Everlasting Punishment
The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Christ Jesus refers to himself as the “Son of man” repeatedly in his ministry. No one else, even his disciples, addresses him this way. (Jesus rarely calls himself the “Son of God,” although he commends Peter’s confession of this status; see Matthew 16:16–19.) Here, speaking to a reformed Zacchaeus, the Master confirms his role as humanity’s Savior.
