A music lesson

Bartok seems hard.
So many notes!
Symbols of sound o’erwhelm the page.
What do they mean?
The task: to sort them out,
to find the rhythms
that link each phrase
and lead to
beauty heard.
Study and practice
build confidence
until,
listening, I find the notes recede,
and understanding yields its reward:
music.

Metaphysics seems hard.
So many words!
Themes of the infinite o’erwhelm the page.
What do they mean?
The task: to consider the words,
to glean the kernels of new ideas
that lead to inspiration
and Truth revealed.
Study and practice
bring progress
until,
listening, I find the words recede,
and understanding yields its reward:
healing.
