Prayer heals effects of fall

Some months ago, as I was weeding a flower bed, a large weed I was tugging on suddenly gave way, and I fell headfirst onto our concrete driveway. My husband was nearby and hurried to help. Somewhat stunned and in pain, I was able to stand, but there was a wound extending from the left side of my head to my left eye.

The fall occurred on a Monday, and I had just read that week’s Bible Lesson, titled “Man,” from the Christian Science Quarterly. It included this statement from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Christ presents the indestructible man, whom Spirit creates, constitutes, and governs” (p. 316). Clinging to this truth in prayer, I was soon pain-free. I was able to clean myself up and go out to lunch with my husband. 

I quickly forgot about the incident, and the bruising around the eye gradually disappeared. But one morning a couple of weeks later, I was reading the Bible Lesson and suddenly noticed that there were spots affecting the vision in my left eye. This time the Lesson was titled “Matter,” and the Golden Text was, “Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not?” (Proverbs 23:5). I marveled at the timeliness of the question. An hour or so later, when I was dressing, another Bible question came to thought: “Having eyes, see ye not?” (Mark 8:18). Shortly after that, as I glanced at something written, I noticed that the spots were gone, and they have not returned.
