Threat to vision reversed

Over a year ago, I went to an optometrist to get a new pair of reading glasses. After examining my eyes, he told me he saw something that might indicate glaucoma in its early stages. He said I needed to come back for more tests and warned me of the threat to my vision if it was this condition and it was left untreated. I recognized this as an opportunity to demonstrate what I have learned in Christian Science about man as the creation of God. 

Longing to understand that this seeming threat to my well-being was baseless and powerless in light of God’s goodness and allness, I prayed and read references in the Bible and in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy regarding eyes, sight, and vision. Science and Health says, for instance, “According to Christian Science, the only real senses of man are spiritual, emanating from divine Mind” (p. 284). 

This helped to lift my thought out of a false sense of vision as a physical faculty that could be lost. It became clearer to me that because I am created by God, divine Spirit, my senses, including vision, must forever be spiritual and perfect.
