Healing of knife wound to hand

Recently, I was reminded of a significant healing I had a few years ago. I was working in the kitchen and punctured my hand with a knife, resulting in a deep cut. It was very painful, and the wound was bleeding profusely. I began praying immediately and also tried to stop the bleeding by putting pressure on the wound as I held my hand under a faucet. However, the pain and bleeding did not stop.

It occurred to me, as I reached out to God for help, that as a spiritual idea I could not be injured. I was also affirming that matter has no sensation, and that I could turn completely away from the picture of injury and trust God to bring complete healing. And yet, I was preoccupied with figuring out how to fix my hand.

I stopped trying to manage the bleeding and turned away from the hand, turning to God and the spiritual concepts taught in Christian Science of man’s present perfection—of man’s status as always cared for by God. The bleeding and pain stopped immediately. The complete healing came quickly thereafter. I was so grateful for this example of how we can rely on God to care for us in every way.
