New day

Weeks of winter woes
leave me forlorn
dispirited
like a sodden blanket
that never seems
to quite dry out

 so in humble prayer
I lift my eager eyes
to glimpse but a ray
of the Truth that I know—
like the sun hidden by clouds—
is ever beaming

and then the mist lifts, and
“I kiss the cross, and wake to know
A world more bright” Mary Baker Eddy, Poems, p. 12
pure
clear
limitless

and like birds
playfully flitting
in glistening puddles
my heart soars again
renewed
fearless

energized by divine Love
freed from even a hint
of that dreary
imprisoning mind-set
ready to press forward
hand in hand

with my heavenly Father
